Faith is one of the most used words by Christians. The word was common among early Christian folk and even more common with mordern christians. Faith is talked about in the New Testament, particularly emphasised in Hebrews 11.
In my weary journey as a Christian, I have realised that it's a growing concept. It is spoken of as a noun, with size description by Jesus, when He says "if your faith is as small as a mustard seed you can move mountains"- meaning it can grow and it can shrink.
The various encounters we go through in life are expected to grow and groom our faith, hence I have seen that the higher we proceed on this ladder, the greater the level of faith we have to apply. Our faith starts out from almost nothing when we first encounter Christ, but as we come across challenges, excercising our faith makes it grow.
Take Biblical Abraham for example, leaving his home to an unknown location was his first encounter, He had cattle, sheep, servants and moving them was within his power. When it came to having a child, his level of faith had to increase beyond his realm and power into a state of trust. And after God gave him the child, the bar went up again. It took an extra measure of faith to willingly offer his son up, knowing that the one he trusts was able to restore every and anything to him.
On this weary journey, I have seen that slipping is one of the most challenging part of the faith Journey. We sometimes look back and feel we've had greater faith in yester years than in our current situation, most especially when there is a huge challenge we face. In moments like this, The Word is our go to bank to refill and grow as Apostle Paul says "faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God". This is also coupled with prayers, simply talking to God.
Growing to higher levels of faith is not an easy journey, but every rung of this ladder that we climb counts for a deeper new experience with the Creator.
